Our Lady & St. Michael, Workington

The Church of Our Lady and St. Michael replaced an earlier chapel built in 1873 to serve Irish Catholics and the indigenous community of Workington. Abbot Clifton, arriving in 1844, commissioned architect E.W Pugin, resulting in the present impressive church, completed in 1876. Later enhancements were all completed by 1897.

We have been undertaking a series of design schemes and programmes of repair. These include: a project for improved access to the narthex; reconstruction of side chapel tracery and windows; floor repairs.
