Our design for the adaptive reuse of Moss Mill has been granted planning permission and listed building consent by Preston City Council. Moss Mill is an early purpose-built, steam-powered spinning mill of the 1790s. In the nineteenth century it was converted for a number of uses including an ice warehouse and storage. After World War 2 the building contained parish rooms for the local church and a dance hall called the Star Ballroom. In the 1980s the previous owners covered the building in cement render and opened bars over two floors. Most recently the Ferret music venue has occupied the ground floor. The new project builds on the Ferret’s legacy as an independent music venue and proposes two further performance spaces on the first and second floors alongside music workshops and art studios, all served by new circulation including an external lift tower.

"}
