Moss Mill is an early purpose-built, steam-powered spinning mill of the 1790s. In the nineteenth century it was converted for a number of uses including an ice warehouse and storage. After World War 2 the building contained parish rooms for the local church and a dance hall called the Star Ballroom. In the 1980s the previous owners covered the building in cement render and opened bars over two floors. Most recently the Ferret music venue has occupied the ground floor.
